The annual United Way Day of Caring on Sept. 28 was a perfect opportunity to organize nearly 60 Marshalltown Community College students into a true day of service learning. Just as they’ve done in previous years, MCC students worked at various agencies in the Marshalltown area for the morning.

MCC students were assigned to projects at Access, Animal Rescue League, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Central Iowa Art Association, CIRSI, Emergency Food Box, Fisher Community Center, Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (Camp Juliette), Iowa River Hospice, Mid Iowa Workshops, Salvation Army, 2nd Chance on 3rd thrift and consignment store, and Youth & Shelter Services. The official ‘Day of Caring’ is just one of many chances MCC students have to get involved and do their part for the community in which they live.
