MCC hosts Manufacturing Day

Marshalltown Community College celebrated Manufacturing Day last week by hosting nearly 140 high school students and staff interested in learning more about skilled trades educational programs and careers.
High school participants came from BCLUW, Colo-NESCO, GMG, East Marshall, Grinnell-Newburg, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, Meskwaki, South Tama and West Marshall High Schools. They learned specifically about Automotive Technology, Electro-Mechanical Systems Technology, Gunsmith Technology, Machine Trades Tool & Die Technology, Utility Technology, and Welding.
According to national Manufacturing Day co-sponsors, the nationwide observance has grown in just five years from 240 events in 37 states to nearly 3,000 events serving communities in every state, several Canadian provinces, Mexico and Puerto Rico. It was anticipated that by the time the numbers were all in for this year, more than 500,000 people would have participated!
