Orpheum Performance Series heats up this month

The IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center’s Spring Performance Series heats up this month! Audiences will have the opportunity to witness live music performances, a children’s theatre troupe, and a high-energy percussion band.
Saturday, April 23 (7:30 pm) — An Iowa Songbook: Central Standard Time
Saturday, April 30 (7 pm) — Stebens Children’s Theatre
Saturday, May 14 (7:30 pm) — Pan-American Steel Drum Band
On Saturday, April 23, at 7:30 pm, the Orpheum will play host to Central Standard Time, an acoustic guitar group. The warm resonance of an acoustic guitar folds perfectly into so many scenes. Though the songs are new, they are steeped in the American folk tradition.
On Saturday, April 30, at 7:00 pm, the Stebens Children’s Theatre will take the stage. The traveling troupe presents Swingtime Canteen, a rip-roaring, patriotic extravaganza that features six glamorous film stars singing classics from the 1940s.
The final event of the performance series is Pan-American Steel Drum Band, a high-energy percussion band ranging from the best of Caribbean music to the most challenging new music. The performance is set for Saturday, May 14, at 7:30 pm.
All performances will take place in the Orpheum Black Box Theater. Price for each performance is $10; tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 641-844-5921, or by stopping by the Orpheum Theater Center office at 220 E. Main St. in Marshalltown.
