West Marshall takes trophy in fifth annual Career Extravaganza

West Marshall took home the traveling team trophy for the third year in a row at this year’s Career Extravaganza held at Marshalltown Community College.

West Marshall High School took home the Traveling Trophy for the third year in a row at the fifth annual Career Extravaganza held at Marshalltown Community College. Nearly 200 students from five local high schools competed in business, family and consumer sciences, and industrial tech competitions throughout the day on May 8.

West Marshall had the highest average ranking across all competitions, which included students from BCLUW, East Marshall, West Marshall, GMG, and Marshalltown High School. Second Place went to BCLUW, and Third Place went to East Marshall.

“The students showed remarkable talents and professionalism in each of the career and technical competitions last week,” says Rod Ball, Director of Special Programs at AEA 267. “Their performances were a reflection of the remarkable technical programs and dedicated teachers in each of our K-12 districts. Students are being prepared very well for many career choices and higher educational options in our region.”

Final Results are as follows:

Construction/Sawhorses: 1st tie between West Marshall Team 1 & East Marshall Team 1; 2nd  West Marshall Team 2

Cupcake Wars: 1st East Marshall Team 2; 2nd BCLUW Team 2; 3rd Marshalltown Team 1

Focus on Children: Three-way tie for 1st between West Marshall Teams 2 & 3 and GMG Team 1

Rapid Interviews: 1st West Marshall Team 2; 2nd BCLUW Team 1; 3rd East Marshall Team 1

Repurpose with a Purpose: 1st Marshalltown Team 6; 2nd Marshalltown Team 4; 3rd BCLUW Team 3

Video Presentations: 1st West Marshall Team 1; 2nd West Marshall Team 2; 3rd GMG Team 1

Welding: 1st BCLUW Team 1; 2nd East Marshall Team 2; 3rd tie between Marshalltown Team 3 and West Marshall Team 2
