IVCCD names new Orpheum Theater Director
Monday / March 7, 2016
The IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center has named Cedar Rapids native Robert Untiedt as the new Orpheum Theater Center Director, effective March 21.
Untiedt has worked in nonprofit environments for over 20 years, serving most recently as Executive Director for Main Street Ottumwa. He has also served as the Executive Director for the Linn County Nonprofit Resource Center. Untiedt obtained his B.A. in Sociology and Business from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. While working in San Francisco for a nonprofit agency he completed a certificate program of graduate level study in fundraising for nonprofits.
Untiedt says he’s very much looking forward to the new opportunity. “A few years ago, I assisted a Marshalltown-based arts group in strategic planning, and came away impressed by the community interest in the arts and culture,” says Untiedt. “The leadership of Iowa Valley Community College District in their investing in this important community resource is inspiring, as is the dedication of many to create this center of artistic value. The performing arts can help kids learn, help businesses attract and retain employees, and help people in general to find more beauty. It will be great to lead the Orpheum to an even better place, and to grow the arts with other groups here in Marshalltown.”
