MCC’s Pumpkin Jamboree is bigger, better than ever!

Organizers of Marshalltown Community College’s annual Pumpkin Jamboree declared this this year’s event drew the largest crowd ever, and that there were a record number of MCC staff and students involved as well.

Chris Brees, Director of Student Engagement & Residence Life, said the College estimated well over 300 costumed youths from the community participated in Pumpkin Jamboree 2016. They went trick-or-treating in the residence halls and then came to the main campus for a Halloween story in the library, stick-on tattoos in the art room, and a multitude of science-related games, experiments and exhibits. The Babe Harder gym was filled with additional games and crafts, as well as a nine foot tall Frankenstein making balloon items and animals for the children.
“This is a great way for our College staff and students to engage with the community, and it’s clearly becoming more and more popular each year,” said Brees. “Our science faculty really stepped up this year to staff four rooms full of fun and entertaining activities for the young ones, and they were busy the entire time. The kids really enjoyed the bugs and critters, as well as the science experiments and maze. It was a blast!”
