MCC partners with William Penn for RN-BSN program

Marshalltown Community College and William Penn University have announced a partnership that provides a smooth transition for nurses who choose to enroll in a RN-BSN program after receiving their registered nursing license.
Beginning this fall, students who have completed their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may choose to enroll directly into William Penn’s RN-BSN completion program now available at MCC. This partnership allows new graduates or returning nurses to work full-time and attend classes just one day a week on the Marshalltown campus.
The RN to BSN program is a hybrid, meaning it includes a combination of face-to-face and online instruction. The program is four semesters long and will meet on the MCC campus every Tuesday during the semester. The program is open to anyone who has completed an Associate Degree RN program, whether you’re an MCC graduate or not.
Brenda Duree, Director for Nursing at William Penn, says the hybrid program offers flexibility for working adults, and cuts down on travel time. “All classes and lab work will take place either on the MCC campus or online,” says Duree. “We are proud to partner with MCC and their nursing program to offer a seamless educational path for the BSN. As nurse educators, we are very passionate about encouraging nurses to continue their education and receive their BSN.”
The William Penn University RN-BSN program is approved by the Iowa Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The hybrid program will launch on the Marshalltown campus this August.
