MCC hosts Career Expo on April 19

Marshalltown Community College will host its annual Career Expo on Tuesday, April 19. This year’s keynote speaker will be Mandi McReynolds, owner of Mandi McReynolds Consulting and Global Community Relations Manager at Principal Financial Group. Mandi will speak to more than 1,100 high school juniors at this year’s event.

Mandi McReynolds is a dynamic author, educator, and practitioner-scholar. McReynolds is the co-editor and co-author of the book Diving Deep in Community Engagement: A Model for Professional Development. She has spent her career building experiential learning, service-learning and leadership programs at three different institutions in Iowa. The interactive keynote will introduce the “5 M’s to Managing Decisions” method to help college students determine how to make strategic decisions in life and work.

The expo will take place from 9 am-1 pm. Students will choose to attend four breakout sessions from more than 25 career areas. The career sessions include: Accounting, Ag Science, Automotive Tech, Art, Broadcasting, Business, Computers, Construction Management, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice/Law, Dental Assisting, Education, Electrical/Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, English/Journalism, Machine Tool & Die, Medical/Medical Assisting, Military, Mortuary Science, Nursing, Nutrition, Psychology, Science, Sports Management, Social Work, Utility Technician/Lineman, and Welding.

The public is invited to attend Mandi McReynolds’ keynote address at 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 19, which will take place in the MCC Student Activity Center, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown.
