IVG Gunsmith Tech repair shop now open
Monday / November 9, 2015

Iowa Valley Grinnell has announced its Gunsmith Technology program will now offer a firearm repair service open to the public. The College aims to broaden students’ experience with this new opportunity. Students will now have the opportunity to diagnose, plan, and implement repairs to firearms brought in by the community.
“We have established comparable charges for this work to ensure we do not undercut any local businesses,” says MaryAnne Nickle, Dean of Iowa Valley Grinnell.
IVG faculty will act as expert supervisors for all repairs. Repairs are to be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY with guests met at the front desk by a second-year student and instructor to ensure the firearm is unloaded and safe to bring on campus. The program will guarantee work for one year.
“This process will give our students great experience, with more different types of firearms,” says Dave Bennetts, Gunsmith Tech instructor at Iowa Valley Grinnell.
Each job will be done on a quote basis, and the customer will be given a price before any work is started. The revenue generated from all repairs will be available for use in the program appropriately.
To schedule an appointment, call the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus at 641-236-0513. For more information on the Gunsmith Tech program at Iowa Valley Grinnell, visit the website at www.IVGrinnell.com.
